I investigate issues of sustainable development in service societies. I write about how social and economic aspects of sustainability relate to each other, how services for sustainability can be conceptualised, how local economies can be developed and how research and political change can benefit from each other.
Me and the colleagues I work with move through different worlds whose common denominator is that they are embedded in a political discourse of sustainable development through economic growth: small-scale fisheries, waste management and rural development. We want to discuss alternatives to the economic logic of valuating the different dimensions of sustainable development.
