My main area of research intersects kendo, university sport in Japan, and gender identity politics. 

My forthcoming book titled Women and Martial Art in Japan is due to be published in 2021 with the Women in Asia Series, Routledge. 

I started kendo 28 years ago as a high school exchange student in Japan. I hold the rank of 6-dan renshi and am currently the coach of the Swedish women's kendo team.
