My research is about workplace incivility, which is defined as subtle negative workplace behaviors. I primarily study this from a social exchange perspective, where interchanging incivility within an organization is focused. Workplace incivility has been shown to be common, yet hard to detect, in comparison to more overt phenomena such as workplace bullying or harassment. It has however been associated with several detrimental outcomes for both the individual, and the organization.
My work concerns experienced, witnessed and instigated workplace incivility, how incivility manifests on a day to day level, and how it impacts individuals over time. My research interests span from workplace aggression and mistreatment, to occupational health psychology, social processes within organizations, and temporary contracts.
