Associate Senior Lecturer

Research areas and keywords

  • Bioethanol, Steam pretreatment, Enzymatic hydrolysis, Simultaneous saccharification and fermentation

Krisztina Kovacs is a senior associate lecturer at the Department of Chemical Engineering. She has a PhD in Chemical Sciences from Budapest University of Technology and Economics, and her research has mainly focused on cellulolytic enzyme production for the second-generation bioethanol process. Krisztina has worked on the main steps of the biomass-to-bioethanol process, including steam-pretreatment of lignocelluloses, production of cellulolytic enzymes, enzymatic hydrolysis of biomass, yeast cultivation, simultaneous saccharification and fermentation, and fermentation of lignocellulose hydrolysates to ethanol.
