I graduated as a nurse in 1992 and gained a midwifery degree in 1996. I took a Masters in Midwifery at Sheffield University, UK in 2010 and  defended my dissertation in 2013 with “The Swedish Birth Seat Trial” at the Department of Women and Children's Health at Karolinska Institutet.

During my years as a midwife, I have always focused on  normal physiological birth. I have also assisted many parents who have chosen to give birth to their children at home planned. In 2004, I began my research career by conducting a study on giving birth on a birth chair (upright delivery position). From my dissertation onwards, my scientific production has continued to focus on the midwife's core area; pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum including breastfeeding as well as partners' experience of childbirth and the time after the birth of the baby.

I divide my working hours between being a midwife at the maternity ward in Helsingborg and as a teacher in the midwifery program with course responsibility for individual courses in Lund. In addition, I supervise students at master's level and am a co - supervisor for two doctoral students.

I´m also a board member of the Swedish Midwifery Association and is the convener of the Board of Education.
