Lisa Wasserstrom is a post doc at Applied Microbiology, in the areas of yeast metabolic engineering. She obtained her PhD degree in fungal genetics 2014 at Copenhagen University positioned at Carlsberg Research Center.
LW:s current research as a post doc at Applied Microbiology is within the field of metabolic engineering of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, primiarily focusing on diacid production from pentose-rich side streams derived from lignocellulosic material. LW:s is involved in two EU-projects including BioRefine (www.biorefine2g.eu) and Xylocut (ERASysApp), both focusing on yeast-mediated bioconversion of xylose to more valuable compouds that can later be used for different applications such as bioplastics.
