Current research

“Public Intellectuals and Political Intervention”:
The aim of my PhD project is to explore how farfetched utopian ideals in a short period of time can become the frame of reference for the whole public discourse how interpretive privilege of a debate comes about and how ideology becomes common sense. To do so, I study the debate on privatisation of the public sector in Sweden during the crisis years of 1988 to 1993 as an empirical example in an analysis inspired by post-structuralist discourse theory and rhetorical political analysis. To make sense of meaning making struggles, dominance and interpretative privilege in the debate I reconceptualise the notion of ‘intellectuals’ through a critique of traditional perspectives.

Teaching
