Research

My studies in villa architecture have come to include both built and landscape architecture. This has made me interested in different sorts of landscapes. In Inside the Garden: An Essay with an Hypothesis Concerning the Central Fountain of Cardinal Gambara’s Giardino at the Villa Lante in Bagnaia (Malmö Art Academy Yearbook 1996-97, Lund University, 1997) I write about one of the most well known Mannerist villas, Villa Lante.

My essay Idea Landscapes (in Landscape Architecture Europe, On Site, Birkhäuser, 2009) exploits alternative approaches to landscape of the last four decades, somewhere in the zone between landscape architecture and fine arts.

In 2009 I concluded my work on an article about agriculture and forestry in art in Sweden during the 20th century. The article is intended for an anthology on Swedish agriculture in that period, commissioned by the the Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry.

I presented a research paper at Lund University’s pedagogical development conference in 2009. My paper concerned the excursion within the humanities (see Proceedings, Utvecklingskonferens 09, Lunds universitet, 2009, in Swedish only).

I have recently initiated a study on Malmö’s first city architect William Klein and his works.

My interest in Italy has also resulted in artistic research. Since 2008 I am working on the project Italomemes – ideas about Italy (http://www.italomemer.se/, in Swedish only) financed by the Royal University College of Fine Arts.
