Development and validation of SEFAS, a foot and ankle specific patient-reported outcome measure (PROM). SEFAS is evaluated according to international guidelines regarding validity, reliability, responsiveness, measurement error and minimal important change (MIC). These evaluations are summarized in the dissertation "SEFAS-the Self-reported Foot and Ankle Score". A normative material has been developed for SEFAS and is recently submitted for publication. Current research also includes the use of SEFAS for evaluation of foot and/or ankle surgery. Up to now there are published articles regarding patient-reported results after hallux valgus and flat foot surgery. SEFAS and EQ-5D are used in the newly established National Quality Registry “Riksfot” and we will soon be able to start up registry studies with patient-reported results regarding foot and ankle surgery. At the moment I am also planning for a study where we are going to evaluate surgical procedures in patients with dropfoot due to a stroke and also a register study involving EQ-5D data before and after surgery from several orthopedic quality registries.
