My area of interest is children growing up in families where addiction, mental illness and/or violence is present. These children are sometimes termed children as next of kin.

In my research I will explore support groups for children, which is a specific type of intervention that is organized and offered locally by several social services in Sweden for this group of children. Reaching out to children in the target group and recruit participants to the support groups has shown to be difficult. Therefore I am interested in exploring which children are actually attending the groups and how are they recruited to the support group. I´m also interested in understanding the different ideas and views of children as next of kin that are present in social work practice when organizing support groups.
