Low temperature combustion (LTC) concepts in internal combustion engines (ICE) such as partially premixed compression ignition (PPCI) known for their emission and fuel economy advantages have been widely studied in the last decade to improve their practical usability.

Unique properties of alcohols such as methanol fuel allows to promote PPCI engine concept even further due to the zero-soot emissions.

This research focus on numerical simulations of methanol fuel in PPCI engine to gain more understanding for methanol in-cylinder processes such as mixing, ignition and combustion. Advanced injection strategies are studied as a potential solution to cold starts and combustion noise.
