The aim of my research is to reveal knowledge and understanding of the possibilities and challenges of family care givers for a child on HIV treatment. Further aim is to determine the risks of and factors predicting attrition (death and loss-to-follow up combined) and changes in treatment regimen for children on antiretroviral therapy (ART) in Ethiopia. We used the prospective cohort study designs: includes both qualitative and quantitative methods. Four components derived from a cohort of children less than 15 years of age prospectively enrolled to ART and their respective family care givers (304). The research will fill the information gap on the experiences of family caregivers for a child living with HIV/AIDS and enrolled to ART. Inger Hallström is my main supervisor, co-supervisors are Degu Jerene and Pia Lundqvist.
