My research project will investigate to what extent ad hominem argument affects the Court’s assessment of evidence. The purpose of this study is to investigate how the court handles ad hominem arguments and discuss whether, and if so when, the argument is considered justified. I will start to look at argumentation about experts being less credible because of a conflict of interest and plaintiff´s being less credible because of their criminal history. The results will hopefully increase the knowledge of ad hominem arguments significance for the assessment of evidence. My project is part of an interdisciplinary project on legal argumentation in evidence linking jurisprudence with argumentation theory and cognitive psychology.

I teach jurisprudence, procedural law and administrative law at different levels at the law study programme.
