Doctoral Student

I studied Arabic Language and Literature at the University of Copenhagen and specialized in new Syrian war poetry written after 2011. As PhD-student I examine war experiences in the perspective of phenomenology and sociology of place. I am interested in the human perception of place and everyday life amid war, and how the war changes the meaning of prevalent phenomenons as the ubiquitous death, that is no longer alien and shocking. I examine this through new Syrian novels written on, and in, the war years. The project aims to contribute to international research on (body-oriented) war literature, cultural memory studies’ interest in the interplay between aesthetics, memory and conflict and studies on modern Syrian literature.
