My research is related to sepsis and biomarkers. Sepsis is one of our unknown widespread diseases which can affect both young and old, previously healthy or sick. Every year in Sweden more than 25000 people are affected, which is more than from the three most common cancer forms. Mortality is high. Biomarkers are substances measureable in blood and can tell us something about severity and prognosis.

If you, in an early stage of the disease, can identify the patients with sepsis and by doing so, take measures to give the right treatment at the right level of care, much can be won. In my research I look for biomarkers which by themselves or in combination can help us doing that. SWECRIT will be the main source of these biomarkers.
