Research

My main research interests are the history of taxation and inequality. I started working on late 20th century Spain, analysing the distributive impacts of the tax reform undertaken during the transition to democracy. I am now conducting comparative research on tax developments since the 19th century in Scandinavia, Western Europe and Latin America. I am also a member of the SWINNO project, where I look at the impact of public policies on innovative activities in Sweden and Finland since 1970.

Teaching

I have taught courses in International Economic History, Introduction to History, History of the Welfare State, Economic History of Eastern Asia, Swedish Economic Development, and Economic History for the Swedish Labour Market. My approach is very much based on students' participation in interpreting information (graphs, tables, texts, etc).

Outreach

I write regularly in the blog "Universidad, Sí", which seeks to encourage public discussion of university issues. I have also published some of the results of my research in a dissemination format, for example in the Spanish periodical Alternativas Económicas or the blog Nada es Gratis (http://nadaesgratis.es/admin/transicion-a-la-democracia-y-desigualdad-pegajosa, 16/1/2017), and I have also cooperated for an article on income growth and inequality in Spain since the 1980s with El País (Más ricos y menos iguales, 25/10/2015).
