Aerosol Physics

The research is focused on the physical and chemical characterization of atmospheric aerosols. The particle emissions will also be investigated in connection to potential health effects.  

 

Project: ship emissions

Atmospheric measurements are performed on shorelines, collecting fresh or aged ship emissions during different seasons (summer and winter). The AMS (Aerosol Mass Spectrometer) is used for size dependent chemical characterisation of particles. The particle soot and sulphur content is of main interest.

 

Project: forest emissions and rural background

In the spruce forest around the ACTRIS background station, Hyltemossa, we will measure emission and uptake of particles as well as interactions with gases. Long-term variations will be studied by continuous measurements with for example the ACSM (Aerosol Chemical Speciation Monitor).
