My research is about investigating metabolic and lifestyle factors in relation to risk and prognosis of cancer. I lead the Metabolic syndrome and Cancer project (Me-Can), which is a collaboration between researchers in Sweden, Norway and Austria, with the purpose to investigate metabolic factors in relation to cancer risk in around 800,000 individuals with 80,000 incident cancer cases. My ongoing research also has a particular focus on cancers of the prostate and urinary bladder. In these studies, I combine several Swedish cohorts and national registries to investigate metabolic factors and cancer-specific heredity jointly in relation to risk by specific tumour characteristics, and among cases, in relation to prognosis.
