My research has mainly been focused on primary care and public health, and has involved studying various areas such as chronic pain, pain management, polypharmacy, mortality, falls and fall injuries, urinary incontinence, and health care consumption. The research has also been focused on development and evaluation of health measurement scales and screening methods.

Research has also been done in the field of medical education and has focused on topics such as education climate, curriculum development, and development of clinical supervision. Another research area of mine is the history of medicine, mainly in the field of primary health care, where my studies have investigated, e.g. the working conditions and treatment methods of provincial practitioners and district nurses during the 1800s.
