My research is in the field of health and caring sciences and focuses mainly on Gerontology and elderly care, but also on chronically ill patients. My research in gerontology and elderly care has involved studying various areas related to older people’s health and care, such as chronic pain, pain management, quality of life, loneliness, fear, fatigue, polypharmacy, multi-morbidity, mortality, falls and fall injuries, dizziness, and health care consumption. The research methods and designs have varied between, e.g. systematic literature reviews, RCT-studies, quasi-experimental studies, longitudinal cohort studies, and cross-sectional studies.

Research has also been done in the field of medical education and has focused on topics such as education climate, curriculum development, and development of clinical supervision. Another research area of mine is the history of medicine, mainly in the field of primary health care, where my studies have investigated, e.g. the working conditions and treatment methods of provincial practitioners and district nurses during the 1800s.
