UKÄ subject classification
Future generations will benefit from maximally informative records of the past. Current digital technology has unprecedented potential to create such records. In fact, with today’s technology, we are in a position to construct virtual multimedia time machines which capture today’s threatened heritage for the sake of future generations. But strategies, principles and techniques of digital cultural heritage documentation and analysis are currently discipline-specific, scattered over disparate investments, and not interoperable. Such documentation will have a lot to gain from closer coordination and mutual exchange of experiences and ideas between state-of-the-art, but hitherto unintegrated, documentation agendas.
