Political comedy, audience engagement and citizenship

Project: Dissertation

Layman's description

The project aims to fill the gap within media and communication research, when it comes to political comedy audiences. What happens when you don't get it? Can you trust political comedy as news? Can political comedy create a distance between politician and citizen, or does it help to create understanding between these groups?

The project concerns popular culture and its audiences, with a special focus on political humor and the possible impacts on democratic participation and engagement that this hybrid genre might have.
