The aging population is increasing all over the world, and this entails challenges at both the individual and societal level. With age come physical and social challenges with which older persons must grapple. Society may come to face major challenges in the form of increased healthcare costs, as well as future housing planning and infrastructure that require adaptation to the needs of the older persons. Preventive home visits, which are conducted in seven municipalities in northeastern Skåne, may be a way to improve or maintain the health of older persons. There is currently a great deal of research into how various risks such as malnutrition and falls can be prevented among older persons. However, to contribute to better health a more comprehensive perspective is required - one that also involves health promotion at both the individual and societal level, which can strengthen older people's resources. To optimize the efficacy of the preventive home visits offered to older people, we must examine which health-related resources are linked to health and which recommendations can promote health.
