The Emergence of Modern Beach Holidays. German Seaside Resorts and Coastal Tourism by the North and Baltic Sea, 1871-1939
How did tourism and seaside resorts by the German Baltic and North sea coasts develop, how did the resorts compete with each other, which marketing stragies did they use and what cultural images of the sea did they spread? Which expectations had the tourists, how did their beach practices change over time, which meanings had seaside holidays for them? The project seeks answers to these questions.
