Why is it necessary to modify the web pages?

Project: Research

Layman's description

The Centre for Mathematical Sciences has identified the need to update and modify their web pages. A restructuring project began in 2012, coordinated by Annika Hansdotter. The initial phase of the project (redesign and replacement of the system) will be completed in February 2013. This project offers the opportunity to analyze a case study in real time.

Why is it necessary to modify web pages? When do they fail to function or work? This is the basic question guiding the study presently being developed with the Center for Mathematical Sciences, Lund University, under the guidance of profs. Mario Natiello and Fernando Flores.

The Centre for Mathematical Sciences has identified the need to update and modify their web pages. A restructuring project began in 2012, coordinated by Annika Hansdotter. This project offers the opportunity to analyze a case study in real time, using the project documentation created and maintained by Annika Hansdotter during the process.

As it happens in many other organizations, the need to update and transform the material web pages is clear, but it is very interesting to address from the communication viewpoint the basic question of why it is necessary, in terms of the broken technologies.

For this study, we are working with the dialectical mediation model of communication proposed by Dr. José Luis Piñuel at the Complutense University of Madrid, and the concept of broken technologies of Dr. Fernando Flores, University of Lund. In light of these two views, we seek to analyze the transformations, changes and new directions that the new web pages take in terms of communication and representation.
