Changing landscapes, climate and biodiversity as seen through art.

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingBook chapter

Abstract

Landscape paintings from the last two
centuries can be used in certain cases as an aid for
studies of changes in land use. Also changes in biodiversity
can be evaluated in comparison with the
present situation. Similarly, effects of global warming
in older paintings can also probably be evaluated.
Examples of paintings from Sweden done by Bruno
Liljefors and from the United States done by several
painters who depicted the Old West were selected as
examples for the purpose of this paper.
