Globalism and National Sovereignty in the Globalization Movement. With a focus on the Swedish Movement Context

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaper, not in proceeding

Abstract

How much is "anti" in the "anti-globalization" movement? And how much is "pro", and for what? In this paper I will analyze some common features, and divisions between organizations in the so called anti-globalization movement, with focus on the political articulations and different ways of political struggle. How is a common identity and a common adversary of the disparate movements constructed with regard to the diversity of the different actors? The paper is mainly based on empirical material and observations at the European Union related demonstrations and activism in Gothenburg, June 2001.
