Josephine’s research on urban and regional development weaves together three strands of work: peripheries and second-tier cities, the role of agency in regional development, and innovation adoption and diffusion. Projects investigate these themes through in different empirical contexts, including the medtech sector and cultural and creative industries; Swedish non-core regions; interdisciplinary research environments and research infrastructures; and innovation in the Global South.
Teaching areas range from basic (Bach.) to advanced (Msc.) level economic geography (industrial geography, regional dynamics, institutional- evolutionary- and relational economic geography), in addition to coordinating the project-based Applied Research Methods and Research Design in Urban Planning.
