A factory in the living room: Homebased work and homebased workers 1800-2018

Book project with seventeen chapters on paid home-based work, covering a period of two centuries and five continents. Besides the individual chapters, the volume hold a comprehensive introduction to the history of home-based remunerated work, as well as an overview over the field of research, and the implications for the development of theoretical frameworks in labour and feminist history. The chapters are split into five sub-themes, all started by an introductory text. These themes focus on sites of resistance for home-based workers, methods, sources and perspectives in studying home-based workers, regulation, and hold historical and contemporary case studies. The conclusion is written by home-worker activists and include reflections over the past, present and future of home-based work.
