Young, growing planets and their gaseous envelopes
Gas accretion rates onto protoplanetary cores remain a disputed topic. Although a number of analytic prescriptions and estimations exist in the literature, there is considerable difference in resulting numbers of gas giants when applying those prescriptions to grow protoplanets. We use the state-of-the art 3D radiation-hydrodynamic code FargOCA to measure our own gas and pebble accretion rates onto protoplanetary cores. Those values will depend on several parameters, which we explore as far as is reasonable and viable.
