Beskrivning
In this speech, Professor Eli Avraham addresses the creative ways in which cities have combatted and recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic and the significant urban challenges and changes it brought about.Target audiences that cities have served for years such as tourists, investors and entrepreneurs have disappeared and cities are having a hard time bringing them back. Even those who have returned are troubled by various issues and concerns that needs to be resolved. Following COVID-19, urban decision-makers began to rethink key elements in their cities’ strategic plans, their physical visibility and the urban spaces worth developing. At the same time city marketers began to rethink cities’ differentiation and branding, and the main target audiences on which they want to concentrate.
There is a growing recognition that the rebranding of a city has to be sustainable so that it will last longer and be more resilient to future challenges. To achieve this, cities have started increasing cooperation with local residents and stakeholders, whom branding is primarily meant to serve.
