Complex bureaucratic structures control the creation of public art. Today, public art is often abstract although more concrete works remain. The artist Linnéa Carlsson won the public procurement to portray Elma Danielsson, the first woman to be elected to the board of the Malmö branch of the Swedish Social Democratic Party (Malmö arbetarekommun).
