ForMAX beamline - Small- and wide-angle X-ray scattering with tomographic imaging on wood-based materials

Namn på nationell/internationell infrastruktur som denna infrastruktur tillhör

    MAX IV Laboratory

ForMAX will be a combined tomographic x-ray imaging as well as small- and wide-angle x-ray scattering (SAXS/WAXS) instrument. It will provide means to study the structure of materials from sub-nm to mm length scales, ideal for hierarchical materials such as wood and soft matter. The instrument is expected to become operational in 2022.

ForMAX is externally funded. Part of the available user time is reserved for Treesearch, a national platform for research on novel wood-based materials and specialty chemicals. The remaining user time is allocated to general users through open calls.

    Erbjudna tjänster

ForMAX provides users the means to carry out x-ray tomography and SAXS/WAXS experiments. This also includes assistance during the experiment.

    Styrning av infrastrukturen

The beamline is headed by a beamline scientist, time for experiments is allocated through a peer review process by an external program advisory committee. The scientific scope of the beamline is defined in interaction with the management of MAX IV Laboratory and the Scientific Advisory Committee and the Beamline Steering Committee.
