The Helsingborg Safety Hub is a top-notch research infrastructure for the performance of safety and security research. The infrastructure is located at Campus Helsingborg and it focuses on a wide range of research areas linked to safety, e.g. fire safety, traffic safety, health and safety and security. The Helsingborg Safety Hub hosts expertise related to fire safety engineering, transportation engineering, and epidemiological studies linked to safety and security. Research equipment includes novel technologies applied to safety research such as Virtual Reality, driving simulators and big data analysis.
The Helsingborg Safety Hub is located at Mindpark at Campus Helsingborg and it includes two main laboratory setups:
1) A virtual reality setup with Head Mounted Displays (HTC Vive Pro Eye, HTC Vive Pro 2, Valve Index) in which it is possible to provide multi-sensorial stimuli and combine VR scenes with physiological measurements (e.g. heart rate monitoring, galvanic skin response, eye tracking, EEG, etc.) for the study of human behaviour during simulated emergency scenarios.
2) A 6 degree of freedom driving simulator (VI grade simulator), which provides a realistic driving experience. The hardware includes a platform, car seat, steering wheel with torque feedback unit, gearshift, wind mirrors and pedals. The driving setup can be used in conjunction with a monitor or a VR headset (Varjo aero). The setup includes specialised software for the development of custom scenarios that can be used to perform traffic safety research studies.
