    Beskrivning

The Lund University Pre Pilot Plant (LUPPP) is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to advancing food, biotechnology and chemical engineering research and development. It houses cutting-edge equipment for key unit operations, making it a crucial component in the shift from animal-based proteins to new protein sources as well as for biofuels and biomaterials research. As the only university-based pre-pilot facility for food, biotech, and chemical engineering in Sweden, LUPPP plays a vital role in both research and education. The facility spans around 2000 m² and includes halls for advanced chemical processing, food production, and pre-pilot fermentation. It is equipped with industrial-like infrastructure such as steam, cooling media, pressurized air, nitrogen, vacuum, and ample electricity connections. The equipment in the facility evolves over time based on funded research, ensuring it remains at the forefront of innovation.

A notable feature is the Process Development Unit (PDU) for biorefinery research, which includes versatile pre-treatment reactors, stirred tank reactors for enzymatic hydrolysis, and fermenters ranging from 5 to 100 liters. Additionally, the MemLab facility at Lund University is included in the infrastructure, providing advanced capabilities for membrane technology research.
