    The aberration corrected SPELEEM microscope is one of the best facilities in the world and offers unique possibilities for extracting simultaneously elemental, chemical, magnetic and electronic information at spatial resolutions down to the 2-3 nanometer range to users from a wide area of research fields. A completely new class of phenomena can be studied with the new microscope since several nanometers is the scale which matches the size of technologically important quantum dots and templates, many vital bio-molecules such as for example DNA (2-5nm), carbon nanotubes and enhanced catalytically active particles.

    Styrning av infrastrukturen

    The beamline is headed by a beamline scientist, time for experiments is allocated through a peer review process by an external program advisory committee. The scientific scope of the beamline is defined in interaction with the management of MAX IV Laboratory and the Scientific Advisory Committee.
