Microfluidics Development Resource






    The resource supports development of microfluidic systems. By enabling access to expertise in microfluidic system design and microfabrication facilities, this platform supports researchers with custom development and characterization of microfluidic devices. Our engineers are highly experienced in microfluidics and neuro-microtechnology as well as micromilling and 3D printing of microfluidic system components for many years and available to support microfluidic system development for a multitude of applications.

    Utrustning och resurser

    The following equipment is available for device manufacturing:

    - Clean room facility for basic silicon and glass microfabrication as well as metal film deposition and patterning.
    - SU-8 photolithography.
    - High resolution direct laser exposure. Glass silicon anodic bonding.
    - PDMS microfabrication.
    - Precision CNC micromilling.
    - Polymer 3D-printing (Fused Filament Fabrication as well as laser induced polymerization).

    Erbjudna tjänster

    MDR provides engineering support in research specific development of microfluidic solutions. Support includes device design and manufacturing as well as advice in device assembly and interconnecting to commercial system components (pumps, valves, flow control etc.) for full system functionality.

    Styrning av infrastrukturen

    MDR will engage on microfluidic development projects that have passed a prioritization panel. The panel will be manned by scientists from the medical and engineering faculty during the initiation phase. Once successfully established, we will expand the resource and panel to engage other faculties.
    Costs for manpower (i.e. MDR engineers with expertise in device manufacturing) will be covered by the MDR while project-specific consumables and running lab costs (e.g., pumps, personnel to run testing etc.) will be covered by the research groups using the MDR.
