Beskrivning

Our research consists of several branches: 1) Blood coagulation. We perform basic research within the field of blood coagulation, thrombosis, arteriosclerosis and the complement system. Focus is on understanding fundamental mechanisms of the coagulation process which could be used in diagnostics or therapies. 2) Prostate cancer and noninvasive diagnostics. The objective is to satisfy the need for novel disease biomarkers that predict clinical benefit in tumor recurrence. We utilize multiple different approaches to discover and evaluate noninvasive diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers. 3) Lack of vitamin D and its potential role in prostate cancer. Various cancers tend to be more frequent on the northern latitudes. There could be a number of reasons for this, and lack of vitamin D may be one of those. 4) Male infertility. We have purified and characterized proteins from the prostate and the seminal vesicle aiming at the clarification of their function in reproduction.
