Forskning

Agnese Pacciardi’s current project looks at European border externalisation in Africa with the aim of producing a better understanding of how these policies are negotiated, adapted or resisted by migrants, local and diaspora communities. Drawing on migration, critical security and border studies her research uncovers the power dynamics that shape the creation of the border from below, reorienting the study of externalisation away from its prevalent focus on West-centric coercive practices towards socio-economic practices from the South.

At the same time she is also investigating the contestation of the LIO by populist governments and how populists engage and disengage with IOs.
