Forskning

Alberto holds a Master in Human Rights Law from the American University in Cairo (2012) and a PhD in International Law from Sciences Po Paris (2019).

His first monograph on foreign fighters will be published in November 2024 by Cambridge University Press.

Alberto has worked on the role of human rights in state of emergency, the intersection between IHL and IHRL, and the balance between counter-terrorism and fundamental freedoms.

He has taught a wide range of courses in public international law, humanitarian law and human rights at both Bachelor and Master levels. 

Since August 2022, he is a postdoctoral researcher at the Law Faculty. In Lund, he has initiated and developed a new research line on human rights and neuroscience.

He is particularly interested in the human rights implications of Neurotech and other, Disruptive Tech (DT), including in the fields of genetics and synthetic biology. 

Alberto is currently developing a multi-year research project centered on the protection of the mind through the lens of human rights and humanitarian law.
