The overarching theme of my research is the interaction between security and sustainable development. Moving towards a sustainable society can reduce threats that today are perceived to undermine security but such a development can also generate new security concerns.

My research has mainly focused on how low carbon energy systems interact with security, synergies and trade-offs between energy security and climate change mitigation policies, energy related conflicts, and how scenarios can be used to assess robustness and adaptive capacity of security strategies in order to manage uncertainty.

I lecture in various courses at the department of environmental and energy systems studies and supervise master students writing their thesis. I have also been assisting course coordinator of Management for Sustainable Development, and Climate, Science and Politics.
