I am a Professor of Economics at the S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR), Mumbai and a Senior Programme Associate of the Global Governance Programme at the European University Institute (EUI), Florence. I was a Jean Monnet Fellow at the EUI during the 2016-2017 academic year. I have also been a Senior Research Fellow at the World Trade Institute (WTI), University of Bern from 2010 to 2017 and a Lecturer in Economics in the Masters in International Law & Economics (MILE) programme at the WTI. I have a PhD in Economics from the University of Sussex. I am also affiliated with the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER), New Delhi.

My research interests are in International Economics, Applied Econometrics, Regional Economics, Development and Trade Policy. More specifically, I work on services trade, investment, regional integration, global value chains, trade and exchange rates, trade and labour, trade and environment, and non-tariff measures, including standards and government procurement.

I have over 100 publications including peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters and commissioned studies for various international organisations. My research has been published in leading journals including World Development, Economics Letters, World Bank Research Observer, The World Economy, Journal of Development Studies, Review of International Economics, etc. as well as by the World Bank, ADB, WTO, the European Commission, ITC, UNCTAD, UNIDO, UNEP, the Commonwealth Secretariat, and the International Organization for Migration. I have also advised commerce, economic, finance and trade ministries of India, Switzerland and the UK.
