Forskning

Björn Palmertz is a senior advisor, and project manager of the EU Horizon project ADAC.io, at the Psychological Defence Research Institute, Lund University. With over 25 years of experience from the defense, security and communication sectors, he has worked for the Swedish Armed Forces, the Swedish Defence University, the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB), the Swedish Psychological Defence Agency (MPF) and RISE Center for Cybersecurity. In addition he has held media production and marketing roles for companies such as Turner Broadcasting in London, Dreamworks SKG in Los Angeles and the advertising agency Wildell in Stockholm. He is also a reserve officer with the rank of Major in the Swedish Amphibious Corps.

As an expert on hybrid threats, influence operations and foreign interference his research and advisory centers on how these challenges can be identified, analyzed and countered from the perspective of democratic societies. A prominent aspect of his work has been psychological defense and cross-sectoral capability development in collaboration with national and international organizations and institutions. This has included enabling the formation of frameworks, processes and policy relevant strategies regarding resilience as well as operational activities.

Palmertz has contributed to a number of publications on hybrid warfare and resilience, for example as co-editor and author for "Hybrid Warfare: Security and Asymmetric Conflict in International Relations" (2021) and as a contributor to the "Routledge Handbook of Disinformation and National Security" (2023).
