Forskning

Before earning tenure in May 2012, I was a Post-Doctoral research fellow within the TRANSDEMOS research programme (2010-2012). In late 2011, supported by a EU COST grant, I was a visiting fellow at Bremen University. Earlier I was a research associate at Northumbria University and Newcastle University. I hold a BA in Economics and Politics from the University of York, an MA (Research) in International Political Economy from the University of Manchester and a PhD also from the University of Manchester.

My research primarily focuses on UN-business partnerships, multistakeholder initiatives, corporate power in global governance, as well as the discourse of corporate social responsibility, its practices and points of contestation. In the past few years, I have become very interested in the corporate capture of particular notions of gender equality and women’s empowerment, and, more broadly, in critiques of and alternatives to neoliberal feminism.

Whenever possible, I try to ensure that my teaching entwines with my research interests and let what I learn and discuss in the classroom shape my thinking and feed into my research. I particularly enjoy convening lectures and seminars on feminist research methodologies, gender (in)justice, fairness in global trade, and the feminisation of labour. I currently teach on a variety of courses within the Graduate School MA programme in Global Studies and the Bachelor of Science in Development Studies (BIDS). I am the coordinator of the internship courses at the Graduate School and the course International Political Economy (IPE) and Development offered as part of the BIDS programme. I am also a supervisor and examiner of BA theses with a major in Political Science and MA theses in the LUMID programme. Throughout the yeas, I have had the pleasure of being invited to comment on several doctoral candidates’ plan papers and final manuscript conferences.

I am a member of the editorial boards of two open access journals: Political Perspectives and the Journal of International Organization Studies. Moreover, I am actively involved in the IPE Ø/Öresund network.
