Forskning

Emily is a Professor in Sustainability Science, currently based at the Lund University Centre for Sustainability Studies (LUCSUS), an internationally renowned centre for research, teaching, and impact in Sweden that she directed for the past seven years. She is currently Director of the Sustainability Forum and co-Director of the Nature-Based Future Solutions Profile Area for scientific excellence at Lund University. She is the new Editor-in-Chief of the journal of Global Sustainability and is a member of the scientific committee for the Volvo Environment Prize, the scientific board of the Beijer Institute, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and the Center for Climate Resilience at the University of Augsburg.

 

Emily is a leading social scientist with a background in international development, environment, and climate change. Her expertise spans climate mitigation, adaptation, resilience and loss and damage and she is an author for the 6th IPCC Working Group II, IPBES and UNEP. Her latest research as co-Director of Climes, the VR centre of excellence, focuses on extreme climate event attribution and storylines, their implications for climate justice and consequently national policy. Notable funders include ESRC, NERC, Leverhulme, VR, Formas, Belmont and the EU. She works collaboratively across disciplines, including the natural sciences and the arts, as well as beyond academia, actively cultivating global networks across Africa, Latin America, South-East Asia and Europe.

Undervisning

Since, 2000 Emily has taught and coordinated a number of sustainability and development related courses. Her teaching portfolio includes topics on sustainability, geographies of resilience, climate change and development, and research methods.

At LUCSUS, Emily Boyd runs the LUMES masters course Resilience and Sustainable Development (2018-). 

She has been graduate supervisor to up to 40 PhD and Masters theses.
