Personlig profil

Forskning

I graduated from the University of Iceland in 2004 with a BS in general biology. I worked at the university within the field of limnology, alongside and after my studies or until 2005 when I got a position at the Icelandic Institute of Natural History. There my main responsibilities were to work on databases and the herbarium. In cooperation with my workplace, I did a BS honours project at the University of Iceland, with focus on plant taxonomy.

My main interest has always been systematics, more specifically, taxonomy. However, the group of organisms was more opportunistically chosen – with arthropods being my absolute favourite group since childhood, now being happily replaced by plants.

While still living in Iceland I gained some teaching experience at the University of Iceland and after that, at Lund University. I very much appreciate being allowed to teach alongside my doctoral studies since I find it such a welcomed challenge, requiring broader knowledge of biology than one’s research does.

My main interest or research projects that I’ve been involved in are:

  • The ecology of pond complexes in lowland and highland Iceland
  • Discrimination of Draba L. (Brassicaceae) in Iceland
  • Bryophyte succession in the virgin island Surtsey, Iceland
  • Ecotype differentiation in Scorzoneroides autumnalis

The networks I have any responsibilities towards:

  • NABiS (Nordic Academy of Biodiversity and Systematic Studies
  • PlantLink
  • The Icelandic Natural History Society
  • Flóruvinir (the only botanical society in Iceland, yet informal)

Ämnesklassifikation (UKÄ)

  • Botanik
  • Biologisk systematik
