I am a researcher at the Psychological Defence Research Institute at the Department of Communication. I hold a PhD in Political Science from Stockholm University (2020), and have held postdocs at the University of Copenhagen, the Swedish Institute for International Affairs and the University of Southern Denmark.

Research areas:

My research takes place at the intersection of critical security studies, international relations and intelligence studies. I am interested in how security is negotiated in relation to new and emerging threats, the production of security expertise, and how actors navigate the legitimacy of security and intelligence practices in liberal democratic states. A lot of my empirical work focuses on political responses to non-kinetic threats such as foreign information influence and foreign interference. In past research projects I have explored the intersection between security and neuroscience through analyses of NATO approaches to cognitive warfare. I have also examined the question of legitimacy and trust in the context of international intelligence cooperation and, previously, written on European Union policy and practice for countering foreign information influence and interference.

I am currently part of a STINT-funded (2024-2026) project which aims to develop state-of-the-art knowledge on responsible internationalisation where I primarily focus on the topic of research security.

I act as a research coordinator for the RISEC Forum (Forum for Responsible Internationalisation and Research Security).

In addition, I am an affiliated member of the Europe program at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs in Stockholm.
