The Depiction of Environmental Processes in Video Games

Energy systems all over the world are undergoing a transition towards renewable energies. This transition brings about drastic change for producers and consumers alike. Subsequently, it produces winners and losers. I hope that my research on the politics of energy transition can inform society at large and decision makers in particular to steer this transition in a direction that ensures a fair and just energy system for all.

In my postdoc project we investigated the role of renewable energy cooperatives (RENCOPS) in the establishment and management of community energy projects in the Baltic Sea Region. These RENCOPs serve as intermediaries which bring together actors with different resources and expertise. We work together with 15 project partners in the Co2munnityproject. My PhD project investigated the impact of transnational municipal networksthat have been set up in response to climate change. In particular I looked at the question of how municipalities make use of their membership in these networks.

Apart from these topics, I am also interested in the depiction and operationalisation of environmental processes and especially climate change in video games.

I am currently working as a researcher at LUCSUS (Lund University Centre for Sustainability Studies). Between Feb 2018 and Nov 2020, I worked as a postdoc at the department of HUman Geography at Lund University. From 2016 to 2017 I already worked as a researcher at LUCSUS. Before that I was a PhD candidate in Sustainability Science at LUCSUS and member of the LUCID research school (Lund University Centre of Excellence for Integration of Social and Natural Dimensions of Sustainability).

I have a background in Governmental Studies (Erfurt, Germany) and hold a MSC in Environmental Studies and Sustainability Science (LUMES) from Lund University. I graduated in 2010 with a thesis on the motivation of municipal key-actors to support the introduction of renewable energies. After graduation I have been working at the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engeneering in Potsdam-Bornim, Germany.
