Forskning

Architect, with more than 20 years of experience working as practitioner and academic in Ecuador (2000-2010) and as researcher in Sweden (2011-2020). Her research focuses on human settlements in developing contexts, organized self-help housing, post-disaster housing recovery and user involvement, the capability approach, critical realism, affordable housing, collaborative housing and social integration, the production of space in collaborative housing, coping responses to the COVID-19 pandemic in everyday life, post-pandemic human settlements.

Yrkesarbete

Dr. Arroyo has working experience as practitioner, lecturer and researcher. She was director of the former Institute for Urban and Regional Planning (IPUR) at Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil, Ecuador. She has been guest lecturer at the courses Urban Shelter Workshop and Urban Theory Course since 2009; and course coordinator of the online course Rethinking Human Settlements from a Resilience Perspective after COVID-19 (2021), conducted by Housing Development & Management, Dept. Architecture and Built Environment, Lund University. In Sweden, she has also worked with integration initiatives in collaboration with refugees and volunteers since 2015.
