Personlig profil

Joakim Pagels is an Associate Professor at the divison of Ergonomics and Aerosol Technology at Lund University, Faculty of Engineering. He has an MSc in engineering physics  from LTH (1999) and in 2005 he received a PhD on combustion aerosols and their measurement. In 2006-2007 he carried out postdoctoral studies at the University of Minnesota, USA. His research is today mainly focused on health-related aspects of aerosol particle emissions from novel sustainable transport & energy concepts as well as sustainable materials. The research is multi-disciplinary and is commonly carried out in close collaboration with designers of novel transport, energy and material solutions in one end and toxicologists, occupational hygienists and climate modelers in the other end. On-going research focuses on combustion emissions at workplaces such as fire-fighters, biomass combustion and fuel cell emissions as well as fire risks and emissions from sustainable materials. The research is carried out within the Lund University Aerosol Laboratory. A main tool is real-time mass spectrometry based techniques for studies of black carbon (soot) particle cores and their mixing with organic components.
