Katharina received a B.Sc. degree in Nutritional Sciences at the Christian-Albrechts- Universität in Kiel (Germany) in 2011. She obtained a M.Sc. degree in Molecular Bioscience at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense (Denmark) in 2013. Subsequently, she started a Ph.D. fellowship as an Early Stage Researcher in the Marie Curie Initial Training Network PerFuMe (Peroxisome Function and Metabolism) at the Laboratory Genetic Metabolic Diseases at the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam (The Netherlands). Katharina completed her Ph.D. in 2017, during which she used lipidomics and metabolomics approaches to study the functional consequences in peroxisomal disorders, and to investigate potential biomarkers.
In September 2017, Katharina started a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Analysis and Synthesis (Department of Chemistry) at Lund University, in collaboration with the Lund University Diabetes Centre. Her project aims to investigate the role of metabolism in the pathogenesis of Type 2 Diabetes using metabolomics approaches.
